White Dammar is an evergreen tall tree, found in Western ghats elevation more than 1200 m, grow up to 40 m tall, the bark is greyish, smooth, young branchlets are hairy and round. Leaves are alternately arranged, simple, spirally, Leaf-stalks are 3.5 cm, enlarged at apex, leaves are 27 cm and 10 cm broad, elliptic-oblong, apex abruptly long-pointed or blunt, base round or heart-shaped, margin entire, leathery.

About Vellai Kungiliyam ( White Dammer):-
White Dammar is an evergreen tall tree, found in Western ghats elevation more than 1200 m, grow up to 40 m tall, the bark is greyish, smooth, young branchlets are hairy and round. Leaves are alternately arranged, simple, spirally, Leaf-stalks are 3.5 cm, enlarged at apex, leaves are 27 cm and 10 cm broad, elliptic-oblong, apex abruptly long-pointed or blunt, base round or heart-shaped, margin entire, leathery. Flowers are white, anthers yellow, borne in panicles in the leaf axils, fruits are the capsule, pale brown, oblong, up to 6.4cm and 3.8 cm, one-seeded.
